The user cannot type in any characters into TextField or TextArea in the Applet.
OS: RedHat Enterprise Linux 4
Locale: ja_JP.UTF8
The sample applets are attached.
Please use test.html for TextFieldApplet, and test2.html for TextAreaApplet.
JDK 6 b98 is used.
Tried a few other locales. The result is the following. The encoding is UTF8 for all locales.
Problem: ja_JP, zh_CN
No problem: en_US, fr_FR, ko_KR
