Verified
This is caused by a missing libstdc++.a library. This is installed as part of
the package libstdc++.so.devel.386. By default Fedora installs only 64 bit version
of this package on x86_64 machine. After installing the missing package, compilation succeeds for both 32 and 64.
There needs to be some sanity check or we need to document it in a README.
