      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
      Java Plug-in 1.5.0_08
Using JRE version 1.5.0_08 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
      1.6.0

      ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
      Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When browsing to an authenticated page in IE using the latest 1.5_08 plugin and VM, I get two dialogs displayed, one for IE another for the applet.

Additionally, the applet which has a GUI cannot receive any input until the page is refreshed. This only happens if the VM has shown a dialog on applet load requested the authentication.

The double login has been fixed in various releases, and unfixed in others - see bug 6366491 for example. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time round for this bug.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Go to a basic authenticated page containing an applet, where the username and password hasn't been previously saved.

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
      No double authentication.

No lack of event handling by GUI.

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

      CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Hit refresh after the double login to re-activate GUI event handling.
