A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
Java Web Start does not update the desktop icons when the app name/version changes. Further it does not update the splash screen name/version that displays momentarily when the app is coming up.

JUSTIFICATION :
It is confusing to display the wrong versions and program names.


EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
1. The desktop icons should be refreshed when a new version of a JAWS app is installed.

2. the app name/version displayed in the control panel should be updated.

3. the app name/version on the splash screen should be updated.


ACTUAL -
The name/version had when the program was first installed sticks in:
1. as the title of the desktop icon
2. in the Java Control panel
3. in the splash screen.

EVEN when the JNLP file has changed and the new version of the app has been downloaded and installed.

All JNLP apps have this problem. Just change the
<title>xxxxx 2.1</title> inr the JNLP of any app to see the problem.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
uninstall/ reinstall, manually rename the deskop icons.
