"Wait a few minutes (up to an hour on dial-up). The directory "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\bundles" should be populated with various files, and eventually the file lib\bundles\tmp\finished should appear. (Example: on XP look for a file called "finished" in this directory: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\bundles\tmp" )"

This behaviour didn't occur in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (IBM Thinkpad).
