The 7-Zip SDK LZMA compression public domain file contained a copyright printf that would have represented a big regression for Java Kernel users, putting text into standard error streams that might be automatically parsed, etc. CR 6642750 simply "pruned" this for the sake of a harse schedule for the fix. This CR will make a very simple change to put the copyright banner output on a switch that default to "on", but is set to "off" (-q) when Java Kernel invokes the LZMA code. This is about a 10 line change across two files and has already been prototyped. Also, provision is already in place to pass an arbitrary collection of options to the LZMA encoder/decoder functions, making this a trivial enhancement in return for the clear message to the open source community that we want to honor copyright banners when it is possible. The 7-Zip license agreement enables arbitrary changes to the public domain source file in question (see review #7309).
