RFE Remove "Update Tab" in 1.4.2_17-rev-b11 JCP
Installed jre bundle for 1.4.2_17-rev-b11.
Bundles are at /java/re/j2sdk/1.4.2_17/promoted/rev/b11/j4b/bundles
Invoke the JCP from the windows control panel and you will see that the "Update Tab" is still enabled.
Please remove the "Update Tab" in 1.4.2_17-rev-b11 JCP.
Install jre.exe bundle for 1.6.0_06-rev-b03.
Bundles are located at /net/koori.sfbay/onestop/jdk/6u6/promoted/rev/b03/j4b/bundles.
There is no jusched.exe process.
Run the JCP. "Check for Updates Automatically" checkbox is unchecked by default.
One is able to tick or check "Check for Updates Automatically" and schedule a time etc.
However, if one either reboots, logout-login again or simply close JCP and reopen JCP one can see that the "Check for Updates Automatically" checkbox is again unchecked.
This could cause confusion with customers. While "Check for Updates Automatically" text is still there and checkbox appears active the backend code has probably been disabled or removed altogether.
The "Update Now" buttom is still active and it does indeed allow one to update manually.
What does customer want?
Disable automatic updates yet have option for manual updates?
Disable both automatic and manual updates i.e remove "Update" tab from JCP?
I have yet to take a look at 1.5.0_15-rev-b10 but I suspect similiar there.
