How to reproduce
1.) On Vista Machine login with non admin account with UAC is on
OR Admin account with UAC is off.
2.) Install JRE 6u10 rc build 27
3.) If login as non-admin (UAC=ON), when promted for admin password enter the same
4.)Launch Regedit from system32 as admin, once prompted for password enter admin password
5.) Create the string key "UpdateServletURL"="http://sqindia.india.sun.com/disk17/deployment/pg152891/PIPTest/map.xml" under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy" registry path
6.) Open JCP and go to Update tab manual update is enabled
7.) Go to user accounts and Turn off the UAC. It will ask for the restart
8.) Now relogin to the machine. And open JCP go to Update tab, Manual update is still enabled for the user.
9.) Now click on "Update" button. It will say, "you already have latest verison of JRE".
When UAC is disbaled/Off for non admin user accounts on Vista, It works as a Standard User account. In this case user don't have any permission to install JRE/JDK. So it doesn't make sense to have update tab in the JCP itself.
In XP if you install JRE as admin and relogin as non-admin/limited user, Update tab will not be shown.
