When customers are installing 2 versions of Java Runtime Environment onto
their Vista machines, 1.6update10final and 1.5update14 that they want and
set JRE 1.6update10final as the default JRE for IE7 and have 1.5update14
installed for legacy systems.
The issue is that if install 1.6update10final AFTER 1.5update14 then
everything looks fine.
But if install 1.6update10final BEFORE 1.5update14 then on launching IE7 they will
be prompted for a username and admin password by UAC of Vista.
1.5update14 is configured to not set it as default for IE7 and if cancel that UAC
prompt and continue to the java test page www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
then it does show that 1.6update10final is being used to run the test applet
(as we want). However this UAC continues to appear until an admin password is
provided.
This is a global corporate deployment so disabling UAC is not an option.
