6u10
FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.6.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-b33)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode, sharing)
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Microsoft Windows XP [Versión 5.1.2600]
EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Application run standalone. Applet run in Firefox 3 or IE 7
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The Jmol app and applet (http:jmol.org) has a pop-up menu. Entries in this menu disappear partially while mouse pointer is hovered over them. Rectangular white patches remain over the menu entries until the pointer passes again over them.
This didn't happen with 1.6.0_7 and started in 1.6.0_10RC
I have done some more testing and it seems to be a problem somehow associated to a
certain computer configuration (I'll bet on the graphic card). However, the problem is not
there when the same system is running Java 6u7.
Both 6u7 and 6u10 work OK in my desktop PC:
WinXP pro sp3 Pentium 4, 3 GHz, 500MB RAM
Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
driver v. 6.14.10.4396
The difference shows up in my notebook PC:
WinXP home sp3 Pentium M, 1.50 GHz, 1GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Series
BIOS id: BK-ATI VER008.019M.000.001
Circuit type: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 AGP (0x4E50)
Internal DAC(400MHz)
Driver: ati2dvag (6.14.10.6458)
Memory 128 MB
It is the same in several browsers. Absent when using 6u7.
May be associated to a certain garphic card config. (see details above)
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Described above.
For an example, visit e.g. http://jmol.sourceforge.net/demo/atoms/ .Open the page and right-click on the black canvas of the applet. Hover the mouse over the menus and submenus.
It is not specific for this applet; I've tested another applet with pop-up menu and it is there too. It is also the same in several browsers. I have put several screenshots showing the problem in a few different webpages and 2
different applets at http://www31.websamba.com/jpeg62/javaproblem/
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
A complete view of all menu entries, with no white patches.
ACTUAL -
Rectangular white patches appear when hovering over the pop-up menu and remain over the menu entries until the pointer passes again over them.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Using 1.6.0_7
Release Regression From : 6u7
The above release value was the last known release where this
bug was not reproducible. Since then there has been a regression.
