Pings are very important for analysis, install issues and to find the JRE trends. So all the pings values should be proper.

How to reprodcue this issue:
1. Install 6u18
2. Make sure installation goes fine.
3. Check the "installerver=" values in log file
on Vista it is "installerver=Pï<ìÞ"
on win 7 it is "installerver= "

Expected Behavior:
IE should be closed and installation should be sucessfull.

Actaul Behavior:
FIU dialog keep showing "Windows Internet Explorer"

While trying this sceanario, once I have found that after trying for too many times leads to install failure (the install error was becz of unzipping core file faild).
This is even worst becz users will end up with no JRE.
I could also reproduce this issue on XP as well. Here is log for jusched.lg
