ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Windows XP SP3 with latest Windows Update
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Installer should turn JQS off by default, or should not overwrite JQS setting during installation.
Because when JQS running, my laptop extremely slows down.
Laptop specification: HP Compaq 2510p, Intel Core2 Duo ###@###.###GHz, 1GB RAM
Without JQS, my laptop running like follows.
- Explorer launches within one to three second(s).
- Internet Explorer launches within five to ten seconds.
- Firefox launches within ten to fifteen seconds for first launch, three to five seconds if the firefox on the cache.
With JQS, my laptop running like follows.
- Explorer launch took 10 to 40 seconds.
- Internet Explorer launch took 30 to 70 seconds.
- Firefox launch took 90+ seconds even if it should be on the cache -- launch firefox without any other applications, just after system boot. firefox displays empty page. IMO, there are enough memory to cache firefox.
I just re-installed whole Windows XP, but this issue reproduced!
When JQS turn off through Java Preference on Control Panel, the system back to normal.
However, JRE/JDK installer turns JQS on every time. It should not a default behavior.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Turn on JQS from Java Preference on Control Panel (It's default behavior; I have to turn off every JRE installation for recovering this issue).
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Just turn JQS off.
But I don't want to turn this feature off for every installation. The installer should not turn JQS on if JQS already turns off.
