When a user encounters an error during the install/update sequence (for example, error 1722), the following sequence occurs:
1. Warning message #1 (see update_java_problem.jpg attachment) -- gives some detailed information about the error, and seems more like an error than a warning (it displays the yellow warning icon). The user must hit OK (the only button).
2. Error message (see update_error_message.jpg attachement) -- tells the user that the update failed and no changes were applied to the system. This displays a red error icon. The user must hit OK (the only button).
3. Warning message #2 (see error_1722.jpg attachment)-- tells the user there is a problem with the installer package. The user must hit OK (the only button).
4. Installer Failed panel (see java_install_failed_panel_1722.jpg attachment) -- tells the user that the Java install failed and that they should try again. Also has a checkbox to enable the user to open the help when the wizard closes. The only available button is OK.
The problem with this sequence is that by the time the user gets to the help panel (if they select the checkbox), they probably don't remember what the error code was, and will be unable to figure out the solution (running the offline installer, for example).
