Investigate the compile time performance issues using Sun Studio 12u1+patches vs. Sun Studio 12.
On sparc, builds seem to be taking 20% longer for some reason.

If we can isolate a single source file, preprocess it into a single source, and demonstrate the build time issue, we can send it to the Sun Studio 12 guys for investigation.
