FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
SE 7.0.0.136
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
ver-Windows 7 32 bit
EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Using Minefield (firefox nightly) build current. And java version . Early access ver 7
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Using Minefield (firefox nightly) latest version. Same bug posted in Firefox space at Bugzilla there but they responded saying that Java needs to support The out of process feature for Firefox 4 (which is not enabled by default). To enable It go to "about:config" and type "dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled" without quotes in filter and toggle the result to true. That will enable the experimental Out of process plugin for java. When any java content is run with this config, It hangs the browser for several seconds before returning back to normal.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
step 1: Make sure you are using the latest java (LOL) version 7 recommended.
step 2:Download the latest Firefox Nightly (named Minefield) and install from here http://nightly.mozilla.org/
step 3: The out of process feature for java is not enabled by default because java doesn't support it yet. But to test type "about:config" without quotes in the URL bar (awesome bar Firefox calls it) and Copy paste "dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled" without quotes into the FILTER BOX below the URL bar. Double click on the result to toggle it to true .
step 4: Test Java in any site (multiple sites recommended).
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Smooth Java Initiation without much hassle.
ACTUAL -
It hangs the browser for several seconds before returning back to normal.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Disable out of process for java in Firefox. But that is what I want Java to support. Please Support OOPP For Firefox.
SUPPORT :
