> We only have plugin2 for 64-bit JRE. There is no old-plugin in 64-bit. That's why in 64-bit java control panel, the checkbox is greyed out.

Greying out the checkbox in this situation is not a good idea since there is no condition where it would be enabled, therefore misleading the customer to think that there is something wrong. The proper approach would be to remove it all together.
