SPONSOR_LOCATION has been removed from
make/common/Defs.gmk
as a part of a fix for
CR 7118995 (stop building offline-s windows install bundle)

The var is used to generate the URI to sponsor binaries in installer and AU xml files. These files are generally staged and updated by Mark for release, however it's a good idea to keep the SPONSOR_LOCATION var around.
You would never see an issue with this in a test build, unless you actually enabled and deployed a sponsor.
The concern is N/A for JDK7 because the framework used to deploy sponsors was completely revamped.
