A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
When running Apache Archiva 1.3.5 for some hours, "top" shows jvm rss size growing to 1.100 MB although max heap size is fixed at 256 MB. jconsole shows nothing that could be made responsible for that horrific memory usage. There is obviously some type of memory leak here (memory fragmentation?). If you need more information, tell me what to do. If this is not a bug, then *please* make the memory usage more transparent -- otherwise people will start regarding Java as bloat-ware.

      JUSTIFICATION :
jconsole does not give enough information about how memory is being used. Heap and non-heap sizes are way below rss size reported by the Linux OS.

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
Either less effective memory usage or an explanation where it has gone.
