The option of disabling the Java runtime version from the Java control panel has no effect if the windows system has one version of jre and javafx runtime intalled.
*** Tested Configurations:
- x86 XP(sp3), x86 Win 7
- IE 9, FF 12
- jre 7u5-b03, javafx 2.1.1-b03
*** Steps to reproduce:
0) Make sure the system does not have any version of jre or javafx runtime installed
1) Install jre 7u5-b03
2) Install javafx runtime 2.1.1-b03
3) Invoke Java control panel, go to 'Java' tab, click on 'View....'
4) There should be one jre 7u5 entry there, uncheck the 'Enabled' box and click 'OK'
Using any browser to load a traditional applet (e.g http://games.yahoo.com/console/bo)
and it the applet loaded using jre 7u5, then the issue is reproducible
Note: Without the presence of javafx runtime, the issue does not occur.
In short, without step #2 or including step #2 and delete javafx runtime after step 4, the issue does not occur
