Because pic.make includes all platforms by default except those that are excluded (LP64), this partial-PIC solution will be done on platforms where it may not be appropriate (32-bit RISC) and any new platforms. Wouldn't it be better to have a positive inclusion list for the platforms that need it (x86) rather than a negative exclusion list? (Originally suggested by Mikael Vidstedt.)
