Java Web Start app freezes intermittently

      Java Web Start application freezes intermittently.
      The issue was even observed after 2 minutes of use already.
      The application does no longer respond. It does not even repaint, and can only
      be terminated by Windows TaskManager.
      No indication of a failure is given in the javaws trace file.
