"sed: RE error: illegal byte sequence" when building images on Mac

    Description

      I get this error message when building the images-target on Mac. Setting LANG=C solves the problem.
      I guess the makefiles should set LANG=C as appropriate or configure should detect that it has the wrong (or no) value.
