FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version " 1.7.0_17 "
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_17-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
also affects XPSP3
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
when executing jre-7u17-windows-i586.exe with the switch WEB_JAVA_SECURITY_LEVEL=M (also tested with VH) the installer appears to ignore the command. after installing we check the control panel and it is still at the default of " high " .
windows XP also displays a possibly related error of " revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. do you want to proceed? " during the install.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
install using one of the following commands:
jre-7u17-windows-i586.exe /s /v " AUTOUPDATECHECK=0 JAVAUPDATE=0 JU=0 STATIC=1 WEB_JAVA_SECURITY_LEVEL=VH "
jre-7u17-windows-i586.exe /s WEB_JAVA_SECURITY_LEVEL=M
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
I expect the slider in the java control panel to be at the level we specified (MEDIUM or VERY HIGH), not the default of HIGH.
ACTUAL -
after running with the switch set to M or VH the control panel still reported the security setting was at the default HIGH setting.
