Too late, already removed and reverted back to JRE 6u43, which restored functionality.

EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Using McAfee Network Security Manager (NSM), which is a JAVA based web browser console interface. NSM is version 6.1.1.18
Same results regardless of the web browser (IE8, IE10 in Compatibility Mode, Firefox 20.0.0.1, and Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
NSM allows the operator to view captured packets (via stored PCAP files) that are passed to the configured packet analyzer. In our case, we are using WireShark 1.8.5 and 1.8.6. This launches WireShark using its full path name e.g. " C:\Program Files\WireShark\WireShark.exe " . Upon installing JRE 6u45, this function fails with the error that it cannot run " C:\Programs " , telling us that the JRE is not properly parsing the command path string.
Contrary to the Regression question question below, this worked in all prior JAVA 6 builds..

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Start NSM Threat Manager. Open Alert Detail. Click button to " Show Packet Log " . When Packet Log dialog window opens, select " Attack Packets Only " and press the button labled " Display Packet Log " to launch the configured packet viewer (configured as C:\Program Files\WireShark\WireShark.exe)
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Have to remove JRE 6u45 and reinstall JRE 6u43. Puts network security administration tool at some degree of risk while having to use a known vulnerable edition of JAVA. Note, the NSM Threat Advisor application does not start at all when using JRE 7.
