Used Internet Explorer to connect to our product which has a java application launched by java webstart. The detection logic (based on the CreateObject("JavaWebStart.isInstalled") examples we've seen) failed to find javaws. But if continue anyway, then the jar is downloaded, javaws starts and our application runs...

Has anything changed with the recommended detection logic?
