FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
Java version 7.0.170
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Windows 7 64-bit version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack1)
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The default Sunday 10am automatic update check cannot be changed permanently.
It can be changed, but it will NOT stay, but resets to the default Sunday 10am. Tried 'Run As Admin' and it would change, however after it does one check it seems to revert back to the default Sunday 10am. Worse, it seems that if the default Sunday 10am is missed (box is not online) then it doesn't attempt again at a later time that day if/when the box is online.
Don't think this was an issue in early 7 versions, but cannot be certain.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 6u31
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Open the java control panel and on the update tab adjust the day/time for the update process to run. Click OK.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Expect that any day/time would be kept and override the default once OK is clicked.
ACTUAL -
ALWAYS go back to the default Sunday 10am check time frame.
ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
no errors, and no warnings. Have to go back into the Java conrol panel, update tab to see it has reverted back to default.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Tried to set the Java Control Panel under " Run as Admin " This only seems to work for the first time the update automatically runs. Though I cannot prove that is true, thought it appears to be the case.
