This is an umbrella for a gardening run on the code. Fixed the following small issues:

-removed unnecessary "lc" parameter from various Lower methods
-fixed few imports, Javadoc, and declaration of unchecked exceptions
-fixed idempotency test in FunctionNode.setState
-fixed wrong equals() implementation in GenericPropertyDescriptor
