From usability point of view, it can be hard for non-technical Java desktop user to find out information this way. Do you expect that this feature will be used by technical users? You are adding statement like “There is no digital signature for this application” or “The digital signature was generated by with an untrusted certificate” in the More Information dialog box. IMO, it may not be very helpful for non technical user to figure out the difference. In any case, do you think such text should be highlighted in bold or some other format to clearly raise the concerns for any type of users?
I’d also suggest, in future, Java team should do further research to look at various options to minimize number of messages to End users. I understand goal here is to provide information to users to make the decision but having so many options and combinations can create more confusion for users.
