A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
There are three places in the Java Virtual Machine Specification, Java SE 7 where VirtualMethodError is used when VirtualMachineError was intended based on context. In the PDF version at http://docs.oracle.com/javase/specs/jvms/se7/jvms7.pdf, these appear on pages 364 and 366 in sections 6.3 and 6.4.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 6u45
