A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Running jre-7u25-windows-i586.exe or jre-7u25-windows-x64.exe or JavaSetup7u25.exe or running uninstall from control panel add/remove programs all result in the installer trying to find an old .msi file that is no longer available.

Trying to run the applet http://java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp either hangs (Internet explorer) or asks me to download the latest version of Java before proceding. Loop !!!

Result: completely unable to install new version of Java.


STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
As above: download new release, try to install. When that fails try to un-install old versions.
