FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
Cannot install it, so cannot do this. :-)
However, the versions that do not install are: JDK 8 ea 64-bit b101 and JDK 8 ea 64-bit b102 (both are SE) - so far.
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Install JDK 8 early access 64-bit prior to b100, then uninstall it before trying to install either JDK8 ea b101 or JDK8 ea b102.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
See also community forum discussion: https://www.java.net/comment/reply/898018/828708
In my case, the first JDK 8 early access build I installed was b99 64-bit. I uninstalled this - as requested - prior to the installation of b100 64-bit. b100 appeared to install OK.
When I tried to update to b101 64-bit, I was again asked to uninstall the previous build. I uninstalled JDK 8 ea b 100 - however, in doing so, it appeared that only the JDK was listed in Window's installed program list. In previous uninstalls, I had to uninstall both the JDK and the JRE that was installed with it at the same time. This may or may not be relevant.
After uninstalling b100, I cannot install either b101 or b102 JDKs. (64-bit JREs install just fine and are not a problem.)
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 8
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
(Note: I cannot verify this procedure since I did not retain the earlier build installation files.)
1. Install JDK 8 ea 64-bit b99.
2. Uninstall the b99 JDK.
3. Install JDK 8 ea 64-bit b100.
4. Uninstall the b100 JKDK.
5. Attempt to install a 64-bit b101 or 64-bit b102 JDK - installation will fail.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Installer to terminate prematurely after clicking " Yes " to Windows dialog titled " Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? "
ACTUAL -
Running the installer results in the Windows dialog:
" Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? "
Program Name: Java SE runtime environment 8
Verified Publisher: Oracale America, Inc.
File Origin: Downloaded from the Internet
Then presents buttons labelled " Yes " and " No " . Upon clicking yes, the installer process quietly terminates without any further interaction or error messages.
Repeated attempts yield same result. Rebooting machine and reattempting does nothing either. Cannot proceed.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
