    • x86
    • os_x

      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
1.8.0_25, Oracle Corporation, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM

      ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
      Mac OS X 10.10.1

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
This is an upstream bug for:
      https://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/10786

A user complains about the input of accentuated characters being inhibited in Swing components if the application is run with Java Web Start. It occurs with both 7u71/72 and 8u25. The problem vanishes if the application is run as an OSX package, so it looks like an incompatibility problem of JWS.

Problem observed with a French layout keyboard, if that's relevant.

REGRESSION. Last worked in version 6u45

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
      1. Launch application as Java Web Start
      2. Enter text: abcdef 'éèàç

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
      1. App launched
      2. Text displayed: abcdef 'éèàç
      ACTUAL -
      1. App launched
      2. Text displayed: abcdef

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

      CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Do not use Java Web Start
