A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
We at Purdue University have many requests coming in for pages to be added to a security whitelist pagefile to bypass all the issues we have on occasion with different version of Java being installed. Right now, we have users that can't get onto some educational and instructional websites due to some kind of security issue. We need to be able to have a way to put a master file on a network share, add the URL or location to the file and let java allow access. right now, our fixes are to have every student add the url, since it is in their user profile...and it is not something we can not deploy.

JUSTIFICATION :
If it's on a network volume, we can modify one file, and it's set and we can forget it...AND it is on the fly without students having to do the change, possibly have to log out and log back on thus saving class time.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
allow the java control panel to be configured to find the preferences file anywhere.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
our workaround requires admins rights.... we do not give admin rights to our machines in a lab environment.
