A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
Is it possible to begin including non-EXE installers of the JDK for Windows 64-bit (and/or 32-bit)? Example file formats: ZIP, TGZ.
JUSTIFICATION :
Developers and application server administrators such as myself routinely overlay an existing JDK with a newer version without concern for the integration that is provided for Windows. It would be easier in many cases to unzip a "portable" version of the JDK for Windows than to install it.
