I enter a single letter into the search field of the Ensemble demo, say "x". The preview box shows up. Now I click outside of the demo app, somewhere on my desktop. The demo loses the focus.
Now I doubleclick into the search field and thereby mark the x. When I now type "x" again then no preview box pops up. In my opinion it should be detected that typing x again deletes the original x and produces a new one, which again deserves a preview box.
