In RT-20313 it is said, that using caret as anchor sequently - it is according to the native contols behavior. Anyway, there is a different behavior in TextArea and TextField/PasswordField.
If you use shift+home or shift+end, then "old" anchor is used, instead of "new" anchor, when you do selection sequently.
