ChoiceBox: support separators in a type-safe manner

Currently, separators have to be added to the items list - thus preventing type safety of the data. For details, and a simple solution (keep a list of ints to denote the element that should be followed by a separtor) see http://stackoverflow.com/q/25914924/203657

support requires api additions and internal updates to make the skin insert the separator at the position.
