When using touch on Windows (i.e. not on touch device, which means JavaFX does not show handles), it is not possible to select text in TextArea by touch.

Native apps solve this issue by starting the select for horizontal drag and starting to scroll for vertical drag. When starting with a horizontal drag, further dragging the finger in any position does only the selection, never scroll, until the touch gesture is released.
