In Windows the preview sdk allowed the JavaFX media player to play back any type of video that could be played in windows media player. This is no longer the case with JavaFX 1.0. I have a licensed MPEG-2 decoder and MPEG-2 causes an Unsupported Media Type exception. The same happens in MacOS when I try to play an MPEG-2 file with the extension .mpg.
