Playing video on current staging site for 1.0.1 results in black video and the progress bar will show up at the top of the video window as well as the bottom. The progress bar that appears at the top does not respond to clicks so it's just an image. The bottom progress bar does respond to clicks, it pauses and plays the video, and scrubbing through the video works. Except the video doesn't play, it is the audio that pauses or scrubs.
Clicking on the "play in javaweb start" results in a player that plays the video (can see the video play) perfectly fine.
The same behavior appears with the launch videos.
All the above is with real hardware. I reran using a WinXP instance inside virtualbox. Get the same video results however the progress bar acts normal rather than there being two progress bars. This behavior holds with 32mb video memory or 128mb video memory. Again launching the video in javawebstart and the video plays.
Windows Media Player is able to play WMV files.
A SQE team member tried with a simpler video player and again got black video.
