A number of legacy plugins are included in the build although they are not or should not be available to the media framework. Among these is playback of AU, MP3, and WAV entries embedded in JAR files. This JavaFX FAQ entry http://javafx.com/faq/#5.3 explicitly excludes support for playback of any type of media embedded in jar files.

The source for these plugins should be removed from the source base and the build should be modified accordingly. This will have the beneficial side effect of reducing the size of jmc.jar as unnecessary class files will be eliminated.
