When you hit Shift-Up/Down/Righ/Left it should expand or contract selection by one item depending on the selection mode (cell, row, column).

Select a row and
1. hit Shift-Up -- it selects the row above the lead (two rows are selected)
2. hit Shift-Down -- the selection from the row above the lead is not removed (two rows remain selected)
