Recently introduced ScrollEvent allow to differ horizontal and vertical scrolling using mouse wheel (usual scrolling of wheel leads to vertical scrolling. Mouse wheel slope inclination/declination leads to horizontal scrolling. Possibly, you don't know, but such mouses exists, Microsoft and logitech produce such ones).
