After removing JavaFX runtime from the system, Chrome users can not use jre 6ux to load any regular java applet
*** Tested Configurations:
- OS: x86 XP, Vista
- Browser: Chrome latest 13.x
- jre: 6u27 / 6u28
- fx runtime: latest fx-b44 promotion
*** Steps to reproduce:
0) Use the clean image / or clean up all related java, javafx regkeys on the system
1) Install 6u27
2) Install FX runtime-b44 promotion:
http://jre.us.oracle.com/java/re/javafx/2.0/promoted/all/b44/bundles/windows-i586/javafx-2_0-beta-b44-windows-i586-01_sep_2011.exe
3) Check that Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.0.255 (version 10.0.1.255) registered with Chrome at
C:\Program Files\Oracle\JavaFX Runtime 2.0\bin\npDeployJava1.dll
4) Using Chrome to invoke any regular java applet and it should load fine (using Java Plug-in 10.0.1.255/ JRE 1.6.0_27. Everything is working as expected.
5) Remove FX Runtime
6) Check that DT is now registered with Chrome at C:\WINDOWS\System32\npDeployJava1.dll
7) Chrome no longer recognizes 6u27 plug-in anymore.
Load the same applet in step #4 and if Chrome reports plug-in missing and the applet does not load, then the issue is reproducible
The issue does not happen with IE or FF
