The issue is found with latest jre9 b74 PIT build
1. Install mentioned jre from http://jre.us.oracle.com/java/re/jdk/9/jdk9-client/b74_2015-07-21-0301_3050/
2. In JCP add http://sqeweb.us.oracle.com into ESL.
3. In browser access http://sqeweb.us.oracle.com/net/scanas415/export/deployment/larry/BAT/html/testJDK7072674.html
4. If the applet shows message "system.getProperty(deployment.jpi.mode.new) returns null", the issue is reproduced.
According to fix of JDK-7072674 the property should always return valid value.
