A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
I have been trying all morning to install Java 8 64 bit SDK on Windows 7. I am being asked for my UAC root password (as you would expect) but then nothing happens. The installer just stops. The windows hour glass disappears. Task manager shows no Java processes.

32 bit installs fine. This is the case for both jdk-8u51 and jdk-8u60.

I have installed Java on tons of windows machines over the years and never experienced this.


REGRESSION. Last worked in version 8u60

I'm trying to install it. I don't have it running.
Currently Java 1.7.0_55-b13 is running for another project. Again I'm a seasoned Java developer. This is a real strange one.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1Download jdk-8u60-windows-x64.exe
2)Run As Administrator
3)Enter Administrative Credentials
4)Watch as windows hourglass stops a second or two later. Then nothing. Task Manager shows no Java application running.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
I expect the install wizard to start walking me through the installation.
ACTUAL -
1Download jdk-8u60-windows-x64.exe
2)Run As Administrator
3)Enter Administrative Credentials
4)Watch as windows hourglass stops a second or two later. Then nothing.

ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
No error message.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
