A similar problem has been noted in previous OS X versions. The problem is broader in scope now.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
A drag and drop operation from one window to another results in a dialog window being instantiated. The app hangs and is unresponsive following this instantiation. The problem is not evident in Windows implementations.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 8u45
ADDITIONAL REGRESSION INFORMATION:
This drag and drop feature has been in use for ~5years.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Install drive.web savvy app for OS X, http://driveweb.com/download-savvy-mac/. Launch software. Leave password blank. Upgrade software; Commerce > Upgrade savvy > check 'savvy-SFD' > click OK > enter two voucher codes on separate lines, 33A-26X68-QBPJ7, 465-33968-X99G7 (requires internet connection). Instantiate new viewer window, File > New Viewer. Choose File > Open savvyPanel. Return to the original 'Device Directory' window. Click on 'speedy-sp'. Click and drag '606) Creep Speed' over the new 'savvyPanel' window and drop in an empty area. A dialog window 'Parameter Renderer Selection' is instantiated. The app is hung, unresponsive.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
The 'Parameter Renderer Selection' window and the other windows should be responsive.
ACTUAL -
The app hangs, unresponsive.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Instead of a drag and drop, right-click on '606) Creep Speed' and choose 'Copy Parameter'. Now switch windows to the savvyPanel window. Right-click in an empty area and choose 'Paste Parameter'. The dialog window instantiates and the app continues to function.
