A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
I just ran Java Update via the desktop dialog box generated by the Java Update mechanism. After the routine was through, there were legacy items from the old version that were left in the Programs(x64)\Java folder:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_91 (containing 4 Files, 2 Folders) 60.5 MB
The Programs(x86)\Java folder was clean. I just wanted to let you know so that you can fix the bug that is leaving traces in the 64-bit folder.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 8u91
ADDITIONAL REGRESSION INFORMATION:
Not really sure what this is asking for. I am sure, though, that the version indicated in "Regression" updated in June without any errors of this nature.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
I did nothing proactive. I got the system tray notification while I was busy in my user account. I responded by restarting my computer (since I needed to restart after receiving an update to Norton 360 engine).
After restarting, I logged into my Administrator account and waited for the Java Update notice to regenerate in the system tray. When it did so, I activated the download, and walked into the kitchen. Apparently, I spent too much time in the kitchen. I think that the downloader probably had been prompting me for a response to the Bloatware options, and when I took too long returning, I assume that the Java Installer must have timed out. When I returned, there was an error message stating that the installation did not complete properly.
I wasn't sure why I got that message, and when I closed that dialog box, I got another (from Java? or Windows Installer?) which gave me the option of telling the system that the program had actually installed correctly. I browsed to my Programs folders and noted that both x32 and x64 versions still indicated Update 91, so I closed the dialog box without choosing that option.
I opened Java Update myself via the Start Menu Programs folder. As the Downloader dialog box opened over the Java Control Panel, the Java Update notice popped up again in my system tray simultaneously. I closed the SysTray notice, and then started the download via the dialog box without leaving the room this time.
[Note: I never closed the Java Control Panel. Since the routine had started via that Control Panel I expected that the downloader would close it when necessary, or prompt me to close it. Once the routine is started, I do not touch anything without being told to, in order to avoid creating conflicts. If memory serves me, I believe that that Control Panel usually closes on its own as soon as a download is begun. This may be have something to do with why the leftovers were not deleted/uninstalled correctly.]
I opted out of the Bloatware, and the download and installation seemed to run normally, except that the Java Control Panel was still open on the desktop when the Installer closed. I checked the programs folders, saw that the updates were installed this time, and noted the leftovers that were out of character. I closed the Control Panel myself at this time, and without a restart, went straight to your website to report the bug.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
That the Control Panel would be automatically closed, especially given that the Update routine was started from that Control Panel "Check for Updates" link.
That I would not find leftovers/legacy items from the previous version in the Programs folders after the Update routine was finished.
ACTUAL -
After the Java Update routine was through, there were legacy items from the old version that were left in the Programs(x64)\Java folder:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_91 (containing 4 Files, 2 Folders) 60.5 MB
The Programs(x86)\Java folder was clean.
After the Update routine ran and closed, the Java Control Panel from which I ran that routine was still open on the desktop.

This bug can be reproduced rarely.
