A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When i am trying to install JRE 8 Update 65/66 all client workstation with no admin rights on the system using GPO by enabling "Always install with elevated privilege." Getting below error in application event log of Windows 7 Enterprise Edition:
Product: Java 8 Update 65 -- Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: installexe, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_65\installer.exe, command: INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_65\\" REPAIRMODE=0 ProductCode={26A24AE4-039D-4CA4-87B4-2F83218065F0}
Above mentioned distribution technique working fine with JRE 7 Update 76.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 7u80
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1) Download Jre 8 update 66 executable.
2) Start installation of Jre and copy msi from below location "C:\Users\usename>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\jre1.8.0_51"
3) Configure Group policy for this msi in Domain Server with enabling "Always install with elevated privilege."
4) Logged from client workstation using user of Domain (without admin privilege in domain and local admin).
5) After installation Jre is not installed and application event log of Windows 7 Enterprise Edition contains below message with [Event Id: 11721]:
Product: Java 8 Update 65 -- Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: installexe, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_65\installer.exe, command: INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_65\\" REPAIRMODE=0 ProductCode={26A24AE4-039D-4CA4-87B4-2F83218065F0}
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :

Jre should install.
