After making the server vm as the default on win32 caused much more address space usage, various tests were updated to workaround this situation and avoid spurious failures (~~JDK-8168499~~, ~~JDK-8163999~~, ~~JDK-8165193~~).

With changes to reduce memory usage on the vm side (~~JDK-8166002~~), these test changes should be reverted on a trial basis to see if the tests run reliably with the revised vm config.
